The Canadian Energy Pipeline Association (CEPA) has launched a new interactive digital map, giving Canadians easy access to detailed information about transmission pipelines.

唬楚捩插漆褒勛圖厙s , which operates on the Google maps platform, lets visitors enter an address, postal code, city or province to find the exact location of pipelines and facilities in their area and access lots of information that hasn漆褒勛圖厙t been previously available. The map also gives users information on the age of pipelines, which company operates them, what oil and gas products they transport and who regulates them.

A second phase of the map due to be added in December will include an additional layer of information detailing pipeline incidents.

漆褒勛圖厙We recognised the need to develop a user friendly tool that people can use to see exactly where transmission pipeline infrastructure is located,漆褒勛圖厙 says Brenda Kenny, President and CEO, CEPA. 漆褒勛圖厙As part of our About 漆褒勛圖厙 website, it漆褒勛圖厙s a great resource for people to get better informed about this critical infrastructure that impacts all of our lives.漆褒勛圖厙

漆褒勛圖厙CEPA member companies have built an outstanding transmission pipeline system to transport energy to consumers in the safest and most environmentally sound way. Our members have 40 233 km of liquid pipelines and 77 015 km of natural gas pipelines. 唬楚捩插漆褒勛圖厙s About 漆褒勛圖厙 Map is a great way for people to find out more about them,漆褒勛圖厙 says Kenny. 漆褒勛圖厙It漆褒勛圖厙s just one example of how we漆褒勛圖厙re working to ensure we漆褒勛圖厙re responsive to the concerns of Canadians by providing information about pipelines that is credible, objective and totally transparent.漆褒勛圖厙

The About 漆褒勛圖厙 Map does not include other types of pipelines, such as gathering, feeder and distribution lines.

CEPA represents Canada漆褒勛圖厙s transmission pipeline companies who operate about 117 000 km of pipeline in Canada. These 漆褒勛圖厙energy highways漆褒勛圖厙 moved approximately 1.2 billion bbls of liquid petroleum products and 5.3 trillion ft3 of natural gas last year. CEPA members transport 97% of Canada漆褒勛圖厙s daily natural gas and onshore crude oil from producing regions to markets throughout North America.
