Evraz North America commends Canada Border Services Agency

World dzԹ,

EVRAZ North America has praised the Canada Border Services AgencydzԹs (CBSA) announcement that it has initiated an investigation into allegations by EVRAZ of dumping and subsidisation of large dia. (greater than 24 in. outer diameter) welded line pipe products from China, and allegations of dumping from Japan.

dzԹThe support of the Canadian government regarding unfair trade complaints like ours is critical,dzԹ said Conrad Winkler, President and CEO of EVRAZ North America. dzԹEVRAZ, and specifically our steel operations in Camrose, Alberta and Regina, Saskatchewan, continues to be detrimentally impacted by the flood of unfairly traded line pipe imports into Canada. We are eager to compete globally on a level playing field based on actual economics and capabilities, not government subsidies and dumping practices.dzԹ

dzԹUnfortunately, our employment numbers have decreased approximately 25% over the past two years due to todaydzԹs difficult commodity price environment and unfairly traded imports,dzԹ said Winkler. dzԹWe continually invest in our operations, and research and development to ensure the quality and safety of our product. However, unfairly traded and subsidised imports present significant challenges."
