The American Petroleum Institute (API) has announced Bonnie Loomis as the new Executive Director of the South Carolina Petroleum Council (SCPC).
dzԹBonnie Loomis joins the council at a critical moment in South CarolinadzԹs energy history and will help advance the oil and natural gas industrydzԹs mission to grow jobs and strengthen the economy in the state,dzԹ said API Senior Director of State Government Relations Rolf Hanson.
dzԹThe majority of South Carolinians support development of offshore oil and natural gas resources, and the state has a unique opportunity to create thousands of jobs and add billions in additional state revenue.dzԹ
Ms Loomis joins SCPC with more than 20 yearsdzԹ experience in and around South Carolina government. A South Carolina native raised in Charleston county, Ms Loomis most recently was an independent lobbyist working primarily on issues related to energy and the environment at both the South Carolina General Assembly and the South Carolina Public Service Commission.
dzԹHaving grown up in the Lowcountry, I cherish our natural resources and am thrilled to join API at this exciting and dynamic point in our statedzԹs energy policy history,dzԹ Bonnie Loomis said. dzԹThrough thoughtful pro-energy policies, South CarolinadzԹs tourism, military, commercial and recreational offshore activities can coexist with the good-paying jobs and increased tax revenue that will come from offshore energy activity.dzԹ

The API has also announced Miles Morin as the new Executive Director of the Virginia Petroleum Council (VPC).
dzԹMorin is an established local voice in the growing energy discussion in the Commonwealth,dzԹ said API Senior Director of State Government Relations Rolf Hanson. dzԹEnergy is critically important to Virginia, and the Virginia Petroleum Council will continue the energy policy discussion as we detail the path toward a brighter energy future, which means lower costs for individual Virginians and their families, a cleaner environment and American energy leadership.dzԹ
A native of the Norfolk and Virginia Beach area, Morin joins VPC after working on public policy matters at Capital Results in Richmond. Morin previously served as the policy development team leader for Congressman Scott RigelldzԹs (VA-2) inaugural run for the House of Representatives and as a legislative aide for Virginia State Senator Jeff McWaters.
